AFTON – Bethany’s boys golf team finished fifth in the Class 4A State Championship May 6-7 at Shangri-La Resort.

The Bronchos shot 947 (322/314/311) over the two-day event.

Five juniors competed at state for Bethany.

Jackie Payne finished 10th overall with a 226 score (76/80/70). Wyatt Geissler carded a 238 (85/78/75).

Garrett Johnson and Landon Hess each shot 244 to finish in a three-way tie for 43rd place with Fort Gibson junior Cooper Crawley. Johnson recorded rounds of 79, 79 and 86. Hess added rounds of 87, 77 and 80.

Will Walstad landed in 58th place. Walstad shot rounds of 82, 81 and 89 to finish with a score of 252.
