CATOOSA – Bethany competed in the Class 4A State Track Meet Friday and Saturday (May 3-4).
The boys team finished eighth with 36 points. The girls team added a 31st place finish with three points.
Bethany finished second in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 8:07.42. The team of Findlay Neal, Jagger Weaver, Sebastian Caballero and Johnson broke a school record of 8:10.66 set in 2012. Current Broncho assistant coach Travis Case was on the relay team in 2012.
Broncho senior Levi Johnson finished second in the Boys 800 meter event with a time of 1:56.28. Sophomore Jagger Weaver finished 15th in the same event with a time of 2:05.13.
Senior Cole Powell added a third-place finish in the Boys 3200-meter run with a 9:31.66. Powell’s time broke the school record of 9:42.24 set by Carson Sandvik in 2018.
Both Johnson and Powell competed in the Boys 1600 meter run. Johnson finished fourth with a 4:26.79 time and Powell came in ninth with a 4:31.44 time. Johnson’s time broke the school record of 4:27.09 set by Grayson Haws in 2012.
Junior Ben Sailer ended up eighth in the Boys Discus event. Sailer’s first attempt sailed 146 feet and 11 inches.
Bethany finished tenth in the 4×400 meter relay. The team of Neal, Jacob Magirowsky, Caballero and Johnson ran the event in 3:31.43.
Magirowsky also competed in the Boys 400 meter run. He landed in 11th place with a time of 51.61.
Senior Sarah Herring finished seventh in Girls Discus. Her second attempt was 107 feet and 11 inches.
Junior Morgan Pennington finished eighth in the pole vault with a performance of 9’6″.
