OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City West got its first win of the season, riding an eight-run first inning en route to a 12-6 win over sister school and rival Putnam City North Thursday (March 14).
The Patriots (1-6) collected five hits in the first inning, sending 14 batters to the plate. West also took advantage of five walks from North starter Jonathan Lopez.
North (1-6) answered with three runs in the bottom of the first inning with singles from Cayden Swart, Aaron Wall and Jessie Aaron. The Panthers also got walks from Rocco Carratini, Xayvion Jones and Junior Garcia.
North added three more runs in the fourth inning to cut the West lead to 9-6, highlighted by a double from Jones.
West extended the lead with three runs in the sixth inning.
