OKLAHOMA CITY – Putnam City West beat Edmond Santa Fe, avenging the Lady Patriots’ only loss of the season, winning 57-53 Friday (Feb. 9) in a Class 6A District 2 contest.
“We were very active on defense. (It) led to some transitional points!” West coach Ja’Ron Jefferson said via text. “I feel like we’re starting to fire on all cylinders!”
Sophomore Jayla Constant scored a game-high 18 points. Senior Caya Smith added 17 points, going 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
Smith reached 1,500-point club and senior Shamar Bert reached 1,000 points.
The Lady Patriots (20-1, 12-1) were able contain Santa Fe senior Jerney Bennett, who finished with nine points. Bennett was a big part of Santa Fe’s upset of West on Jan. 23. Junior Aaliyah Jones finished with 13 points.
