OWASSO – Putnam City led 5-0 in the first quarter against Owasso Tuesday (Feb. 6), but the Rams called timeout, regrouped and blew past the Pirates for a 67-36 win in a Class 6A District 3 contest.
The hot start for Putnam City (8-13, 4-8 in district) came after junior JaColby Williams got a bucket and freshman Miles Jackson drilled a 3-pointer. After the timeout with 5:59 left in the first quarter, the Rams (17-3, 10-1) went on a 10-0 run before junior Johnn Sheffey hit a trey with with 1:36.
Sheffey hit five 3-pointers in the game for PC. However, the Rams pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Pirates 18-5.
UP NEXT: Putnam City returns home to meet Union Friday (Feb. 9) in another district contest. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
