WEATHERFORD – Bethany was missing some of its firepower Tuesday (Feb. 6) but the result was similar, a 69-38 rout over Weatherford in a Western Athletic Conference game.
Senior Zya Vann did not play due to illness.
“(Zya) has been fighting a sickness the last couple of games,” Bethany coach Eric Sailer said via text. “Hopefully she bounces back quickly. She is a huge piece of the puzzle for us.”
Another piece of the puzzle did play for the Lady Bronchos, now 17-4. Junior Keziah Lofton poured in 23 points, 19 in the first half as Bethany built a commanding 44-17 lead by halftime.
“Keziah has been really shooting the ball well lately,” Sailer said. She has put in a lot of work!!! The whole team has in practice.”
Bethany used its defense to feed the offense, turning steals into points at the other end, giving Lofton and others easy buckets.
“When we use our length and quickness our defense thrives!” Sailer said. “Several times tonight we got turnovers and was able to capitalize on their mistakes.”
Junior Kayten Donley added 16 points with 10 in third quarter. Fellow junior Talia Vann also scored 10 points, all coming in the first half.
UP NEXT: Bethany returns home to play Ardmore Friday (Feb. 9). Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.
