ELK CITY – Bethany rolled past Elk City, 87-50, Friday (Jan. 26) in a Western Conference matchup.

The Lady Bronchos (13-4) sprinted out to a 25-9 lead after a quarter and never looked back. In the first half, Bethany shot a blistering 62 percent from the field and 63 percent from beyond the arc.

The Elkettes (7-12) shot only 18 percent in the first half, hitting 2-of-10 from the 3-point line. Elk City had 12 turnovers, 11 coming from Bethany steals.

“We jumped out on them early. Our defense frustrated them,” Bethany coach Eric Sailer said via text. “We were able to turn them over a lot and take advantage of their mistakes.”

The Lady Bronchos rested their starters and top reserves after three quarters.

Senior Zya Vann scored 27 points while junior Keziah Lofton added 25 points. Junior Talia Vann added 12 points in the win.

UP NEXT: Bethany travels to Newcastle Monday (Jan. 29) for a conference matchup. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. The game was rescheduled from Jan. 16 because the Lady Bronchos were stuck in Washington D.C. because wintry weather affected air travel.
