PIEDMONT – Putnam City North got a key road win in Class 6A District 1 with a 44-37 win over Piedmont Tuesday (Dec. 19) at the Wildcat Athletic Center.

The Lady Panthers improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in district play, placing them just behind first place Edmond North.

Senior point guard Nevaeh Sanchez paced North with nine points. Junior guard Haniya Geretta added eight points and grabbed key rebound late in the game off a Piedmont missed free throw enabling North dribble the game out for the win.

Junior Nykaiya Dillard also scored eight points. Freshman Demy Howard added seven. Junior Raya Shawareb and senior Alaysia Burrough each scored six in the win.

Piedmont (2-7, 0-5) got 12 points each from sophomore Ava Watkins and junior Rylie Burnett in the loss.

The Lady Panthers will play in the Bank 7 Holiday Tournament which begins Dec. 28.

Putnam City West 72, Lawton Eisenhower 37
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Lady Patriots rolled past Lawton Eisenhower Tuesday (Dec. 19), 72-37, in a Class 6A District 2 game.

West hosts the “Fourth Annual Sick of Sickle Cell Showcase” Dec. 22-23. The Lady Patriots meet Grind Prep, Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Owasso 76, Putam City 37
WARR ACRES – Owasso overwhelmed Putnam City in a Class 6A District 3 matchup, 76-37, Tuesday (Dec. 19).

The Rams are atop the district standings at 7-1 and 4-1 and used a balanced scoring attack in the rout. Three players scored in double figures with senior guard Alex McGarrah pouring in 20 points. Fellow senior guard Seldon Stover added 15 points while senior post Makenna Yokley added 10.

For the Lady Pirates (4-4, 2-3), junior Kayla Hill led the team with 15 points. Newcomer Ace Engmann added eight points while both freshman Illeya Combs and sophomore Promise Wright scored six points. Junior Paishitnz Booker finished with three points.

The Pirates host the Putnam City Invitational Jan. 4-6.
